Weston Secure Another Two For Next Season

After finalising details and completing the necessary paperwork, Weston-super-Mare have added both Jason Pope and Jacob Cane to the list of recent signings and contract extensions.

Both players have each committed themselves to Weston for the duration of this current season and additionally all of next season.

Head coach Marc McGregor was pleased with the pairs decisions and told the club`s official website: “We are pleased to have secure both Caney and Popey to the end of the 2018/19 season. We are well in to the planning for next season already, there will be further signings to follow as we aim to keep this talented squad together and enhance it with carefully selected, quality additions.

“With the construction of the adjacent 3G facility now underway as well the future for the club is looking extremely bright, from the academy right up to the first-team.”

Speaking of his contract extension, Pope said: “As soon as Macca expressed his desire for me to extend my contract I was very happy. I have enjoyed my time at Weston so far and have witnessed first-hand the development of the club over the recent few seasons. We have a brilliant bunch of lads here at the club, the squad is full of brilliant young talent.

“Macca and the staff this season have managed us all and have got the team playing some of the best football I have seen played by the club, and long may it continue.”

As well as being awarded the captaincy, the offer of an extension to his time at the Woodspring Stadium was the icing on the cake for Cane (pictured): “I really am pleased to have signed and to remain with the lads, it is great to be working with Macca and his management team. As a squad we are now looking forward and our aim is a strong finish to this season. We are already looking forward to continuing the building of the club morale and form in to next season and beyond”.
