Waddock Wants Bromley Recovery To Spark Rejuvenation

Gary Waddock knew only one word would do when describing the size of Aldershot’s victory over Bromley.

“It was a massive, massive win,” he told BBC Surrey. “It was a massive three points and massive for the players to get some confidence and brief back.”

It’s been a poor opening to the season for the Shots, starting the weekend inside the National League’s bottom four.

But their recovery against Bromley could prove to be the turning points, believes Waddock.

Fighting back from 2-1 down after taking the lead, his players answered their critics. Now the manager wants full steam ahead.

“After going a goal up and to then go behind, to show that character and determination in the second half was fantastic,” he added.

“We’re fragile. I have said that over the past few weeks and once we got the first goal we weren’t able to kick on.

“But saying that you cannot fault that response in the second half. We now need to kick on.

“We were magnificent, and credit to the fans as well - they stayed with their team and it was nice to get that win in front of the home supporters.”

Waddock wants his players to win back-to-back matches for the first time this season by defeating AFC Fylde next Saturday.
