Waddock Always Knew A Revival Was Around The Corner

Gary Waddock believes we are now seeing the Aldershot Town side he promised he would deliver.

A poor start to the new season saw the club sat in the bottom four of the National League.

Waddock maintained all along that things would be just fine - and the team are starting to show their powers of recovery.

Aldershot beat FC Halifax 3-0 on Saturday and it was their fifth home win from six.

Following on from an impressive point at Hartlepool, the victory lifted the Shots six points away from the drop zone.

They still need to get better on the road but Waddock believes patience has paid off.

“We said all along that it would take a number of weeks to get into our stride,” he said.

“It was a new group and we needed time but the results and performances are start to arrive.

“We knew they would. We have had to be patient with each other and the age of the squad meant that it wasn’t ever going to be a season where we hit the ground running. It would be a gradual improvement, I understood that.

“They are learning, but they are also working extremely hard.”
