Tough Trinity Are Finally Back On The Winning Trail

Gainsborough Trinity went back to basics to rediscover their winning touch, according to boss Dave Frecklington.

Trinity recovered from their horror show at Leamington on Tuesday to beat resurgent Alfreton Town 2-1 at the Northolme.

It was their first win in six National League North games and means they’re now only two points adrift of safety.

Frecklington was delighted with his side’s response but is more than aware that further results are needed.

The boss told Gainsborough Trinity TV: “I thought we were outstanding today. We changed our shape slightly, went 4-5-1 and went back to basics.

“I said I needed to do a lot of soul searching and find out what was best for the group. We put out a really hard-working, experienced side and saw the game out relatively easily.

“It’s a big victory for us and takes us into Tuesday with a lot of confidence. That’s what we can do when we turn up.

“We know what we’re all about. We’ve fallen short recently but, hopefully, we can build on this and put three of four performances and results together now.”
