'That Win Is For You, Cameron' Chester Dedicate Victory

Chester dedicated going top of the National League North last night to tragic young fan Cameron Rowley.

The 11-year-old supporter passed away on Monday night after a brave battle against cancer.

Chester-mad Cameron had become close with the club’s players and staff and they said their 3-0 win at Curzon Ashton was for him.

Joint managers Bernard Morley and Anthony Johnson have joined officials and supporters by taking to twitter to pass on their condolences.

Speaking directly after the game and before hearing the new, Morley said he was delighted with the three points on what ultimately would be a difficult day for the club.

They go top possibly only until Tuesday night when the rest of the division play but the impressive win sent out a message.

“It’s good to take four points from your first two games, it’s a solid start,” the joint-boss said.

“We were critical of the finishing on Saturday against Spennymoor, but we looked a lot better in front of goal and took our chances when they came along.

“There’s still lots to work on, you can highlight that in the first half. We relaxed after half-time and controlled the game really well.

“I thought we scored against the run of play but we looked organised and it’s a very good three points.”
