New Vanarama National League Power Rankings!

For the uninitiated, Power Rankings serve as a way of comparing teams against each other using a variety of factors.

It’s not an exact science but we’ve looked through each club’s recent performances and results, factored in the difficulty of those games, their position in the table and also considered their pre-season expectations.

As you would expect, a lot of the top teams feature but you may be surprised by some of our leading names.

1. Macclesfield Town

What can be said about the Silkmen? They’re in good form, have exceeded expectations so far and sit top of the National League. They’re deservedly number one!

2. Dartford

The National League South leaders come a close second. The Darts are in pretty decent form themselves and have had an enjoyable season so far - the big challenge is keeping it up.

3. Spennymoor Town

A bit of a wild card maybe but they’ve won three in a row against play-off rivals Blyth (twice) and Bradford Park Avenue. The Moors have done exceptionally well since promotion last season.

4. Aldershot Town

The win at Dover Athletic last Saturday was massive. They remain in second place and will be looking to keep the pressure on leaders Macclesfield.

5. Sutton United

What a fantastic season it has been so far for Sutton United. Every time you think they may start tailing off, they respond with a big win. They could be here to stay.

6. Havant & Waterlooville

Unbeaten in National League South since September, the Hawks are in fine form heading into Saturday’s showdown at leaders Dartford. A win in Kent would send a big message.

7. Braintree Town

Just two points behind Dartford and Havant, Braintree are firmly in the title hunt. Three draws in their last four has been frustrating but they’ve come against strong teams. They’re a threat.

8. Boreham Wood

Their win at Dagenham & Redbridge on Tuesday night was a big boost for the Wood. They’re up to fifth now and seem to be getting better and better. Not many will relish playing them.

9. Salford City

The National League North leaders should arguably be higher on this list but their recent dip in form has seen them slide down the rankings. Their first win in five games at Darlington on Wednesday should get them back on track.

10. Harrogate Town

Missed out on leapfrogging Salford and going top on Tuesday night, Town now find themselves five points back. They’re a dangerous side, though, and could easily go on a strong run to put the pressure back on.

On the verge of the top ten: AFC Fylde, Dover Athletic, Tranmere Rovers, Wrexham, Blyth Spartans, Brackley Town, Bradford Park Avenue, FC United of Manchester, Hemel Hempstead Town, Hampton & Richmond Borough, Truro City, Weston-super-Mare.
