Morrison Makes Reds Switch

Alfreton Town have announced the signing of defender Luis Morrison.

Morrison has signed a one-year deal with the Reds and is the fourteenth arrival to the Impact Arena.

Morrison has an experienced journey throughout football, completing his scholarship at Stevenage.

He then moved abroad to Scandinavia and competed in Sweden and Finland and gained his first professional deal and first league experience.

He returned to the UK and had spells at Maidenhead United, Hereford United and secured a move to Farnborough in January 2014.

Morrison then took time out of the game before returning and securing a move to Essex-based side Canvey Island, where he made ten appearances.

Last season Morrison made the switch to Bostik South side Greenwich Borough in September 2016, then a brief spell at Altrincham followed.

Reds Boss John McDermott said: “He’s a great player to have into the football club. I invited him to train with us and he came to the trail also against Swanwick and I thought he did okay. He’s a very fit lad, he has good technique, he’s good with both feet.

“His desire has impressed me; he has excellent potential and all he is looking for is a chance and he wants that chance. We have to be patient with him and work with him to achieve his potential in the game.

“When I first watched him in the games we have had I spotted something which we can wok with. He’s a hungry player and he wants to be a part of Alfreton which is a huge thing for us. He will be a great character to have in the changing room and he’ll be a big presence at the back for us, it gives us great depth.”

Morrison was delighted to be joining the Reds: “I’m really excited to be here at Alfreton, the club has had a big influx of quality players and it’s exciting for the club, the players and the fans.

“It’s an exciting place to be and we want to perform and do much better than last year and with the squad that has been brought into the club, it’s very positive. The style of football John wants to play, everyone is warming to it and it’s a really good and exciting place to be, I’m looking forward to the season ahead”.
