Moors Go Joint Top But Flowers Won't Add To The Pressure

Tim Flowers saw his Solihull Moors side go joint top of the National League but stopped short of confirming if his team are in the title race.

A late 2-1 victory over Maidenhead put them level with Leyton Orient as the leaders, Salford City and Wrexham all dropped points.

Flowers says Solihull got a little lucky in Berkshire as Adi Yussuf’s winner three minutes into injury time secured all three points.

But the manager wasn’t keen to pile the pressure on his players but telling the top teams to count them into the championship equation.

“The perception is that we shouldn’t be where we are a people are going to want to put us in our place because of that,” he told the club’s audioboom service.

“There is plenty of time for people to join races and plenty of time for teams to drop out of them!

“We’re where we are on merit, but here’s nothing handed out in mid January.”

Flowers added: “At half-time we lucky to still be in the game and I told the players that.

“It was like someone had given us an extra life because we could have been three down.

“But we hung on in there and got a foothold in the game. In the end it took something to drop for us.

“Maidenhead have one of the best managers in the league and his team were magnificent.”
