Minstermen Fully Focused Ahead Of Salford's Visit

York City boss Martin Gray is predicting a “fantastic” game between the Minstermen and Salford City on Saturday - for the neutral at least!

This weekend’s big game is sizing up to be a nervy affair. A win for York could see them climb up to fourth whilst Salford’s lead at the top could be cut to two points if they slip up.

It’s a crucial stage of the season now where every result will have big implications and York have been boosted this week by the return of Middlesbrough midfielder Alex Pattison on loan.

Salford have the best away record in the National League North and York will know their home form needs to improve - especially if they do end up in the play-offs.

Boss Gray told BBC Radio York: “You want to challenge yourself against the top teams. Mentality and discipline will be important.

“We’re going to try and win this game and Salford will be going to win the game as well. From a neutral’s point of view, it’s set up to be a fantastic game.

“Salford have’t got a John Parkin who gets 25 goals but they don’t concede many themselves so it weighs itself out. They do things better in that department (defending) than anybody else and we need to make sure we become better as well.

“There are 13 games left and that has to be the focus for us. We’ve got to concentrate on what we do. If you’re relying on getting into the play-offs on other people’s failures, you’re not doing your job right.”
