So it was perhaps fitting that the Darts midfielder was the one to score the winning goal which finally ended their barren run against the tricky Clarets.

The 1-0 National League South victory was the Kent club’s second win already - and after 18 years without a home success against their bogey team, it was very satisfying.

“It’s been a long time coming again them!” Bradbrook told us after. “I think we have lost ten in a row so it’s about time.

“It was nice to get the winner. You just have to try and get on the end of crosses like that. It was a good ball in and I just tried to connect and thankfully I did and it ended up in the back of the net.

“It’s a great start. We said before the start of the season that this is the toughest the league has ever been so to get six points from the first two games is really good.”

Replacing Tony Burman was never going to be easy but it’s a very productive beginning for Jamie Coyle and Adam Flanagan.

“The new managers have come in and put their point across to the players,” Bradbrook added.

“They have made it clear what they want us to do and it’s working. Who knows how far we can go.

“We lost the league on goal difference last year, so if we can be up there challenging again then fantastic.”
