Gannon: We're Hoping To Show We're A Cut Above Once Again

Stockport County have every chance of continuing their fairy-tale FA Cup run this season.

That's the opinion of their manager Jim Gannon who knows his side have what it takes after knocking out League Two Yeovil Town in the previous round.

It's that performance that gives Gannon the belief that the Hatters can upset the odds once again and overcome Barnet.

"Based on our result in the Yeovil game, everyone will feel it's a winnable match," he told the Stockport County Podcast.

"There is a tangible feeling that if we go and perform as well as we have in the last fourteen games we've got a chancd of being in the hat for the next round.

"There's a lot of excitement that comes with an FA Cup game and it's got so much about it, it's going to get the juices flowing."

The Hatters are having a brilliant season so far in the National League North and whilst promotion is the main goal for Gannon's men, he thinks that the good vibe the FA Cup brings is a sign of much greater success on all fronts.

"The Chorley games and the Yeovil game give you the sense that this is a team starting to move forward with a purpose," he said.

"The excitement is not just for Sunday's FA Cup game but also what can be acheived this season as a whole - there's defintely something brewing.

"But Barnet are a tough nut to crack. We know it's a slightly different game with different challenges but our game plan is taking shape.

"We have been a cut above this level at times this season and hopefully we can show that again on Sunday."
