Easterbrook Ends Time In Charge Of Slough

Steve Easterbrook has confirmed he is stepping down from Slough Town - two years after saying he was taking a back seat.

The Rebels will now make plans for the future after the long-serving chairman confirmed he won’t continue with the role.

Under his stewardship, the club returned to the town as they opened Arbour Park and won promotion from the Southern League.

Slough have had a good first season up and need a last day miracle to reach the National League South play-offs.

They must win at Truro - and hope the four teams above them don’t take three points.

Easterbrook has announced the club will be heading in a new direction but he will always remain a fan.

“Following Monday’s final home game of the season I have decided to stand down as chairman,” he said. “I don’t think this is a complete surprise as I did announce my intentions over two years ago!

“It has been a remarkable journey and I would to like to thank everyone for their help and support, without which the club would not be where it is today.

“The club is in a strong position to continue to move forwards and of course I will still be around to help and assist as required. In the meantime, Vice Chairman John Porter will be acting Chairman.

“It has taken a huge amount of effort to get the club to where it is and I could not have done it alone - so once again thank you to everyone, be it volunteer, supporter, sponsor, manager or player as without you all we would not be where we are today - strong and confident about our future.”
