Blunt Bobby In No Mood To Sugar Coat Stones' Defeat

Bobby Wilkinson didn’t hold back following Wealdstone’s 2-1 home defeat to Gloucester City last night.

The Stones “blew the chance” to close the gap on the National League South top seven as they came unstuck against the Tigers, who are now running into some form.

After a six-game winning run, it’s now back-to-back home defeats inside three days after their ten men went down by the same scoreline to Dartford on Saturday.

It was a different mood on Monday night and Wilkinson snapped: “We had an opportunity to go two points outside the play-offs - some of them cannot handle the pressure.

“Whenever we get the chance to get into or near, we fall off. I’ve noted that and I’m concerned by it.

“They won every battle, it was just not good enough. We ran out of steam, but you’ve got to win your tackle and you have got to win your headers. We were lazy.

“I’ll keep believing - I like it when people doubt us, but our great run has been taken away from us. Now we have to go on another good run and try to put this right.”

He added: “I’m raging. I said to the boys that Gloucester would be one of the most hard working teams to come here and they didn’t take notice.

“I’ll back them, but I won’t come out and defend them when they’ve not won one 50-50.”
