Bignot Wants To See The Job At Chester Through

By Sam Elliott

Chester manager Marcus Bignot says he is very much committed to the cause - regardless of if the club are playing in the National League or National League North next season.

The Blues are six points from safety and suffered a big setback to their survival hopes with a 1-0 defeat at home to Leyton Orient on Tuesday night.

It put the breaks on after Saturday’s excellent 3-1 win against Eastleigh gave them genuine hope of escaping the bottom four.

But in an interview with the Chester Standard, Bignot says he wants to finish what he set out to start.

He has already taken Solihull Moors into Non-League’s top flight from the North and isn’t scared about trying again should the worst happen in the months ahead.

“I was in a job, I was happy where I was, I had the balance of the security and getting out on the grass and doing what I love,” said Bingot to the Standard ahead of their trip to Dagenham on Saturday.

“I was only going to move for a career move, enable me to have the time to build a football club, take our time and leave a legacy because I enjoy every aspect of a football club.

“It was a career move. Yes, people tell you to resign because you don’t want this on your CV.

“Well I tell you what, people will probably respect me more for everything I’m facing that I’m still here, despite having everything taken away from me, we’re still being positive, and I still believe in this group.”

He added: “I believe we can recruit young and we’re making players better. I’m up for it, I’m absolutely up for this challenge.

“I know where this club can go and I’d love to be at the helm to do that, and I want to achieve that.

“Can it turn into a career move? Yes it can.”
