Biggest Derby Game In Years! Mellon Won’t Shy Away

Tranmere Rovers manager Micky Mellon admits that this weekend’s massive match with Wrexham is one of the biggest derby games they club has had in ages.

Mellon’s Rovers go to the Racecourse Ground knowing they will play in front of the biggest National League crowd of the season so far.

Approaching 8,000 tickets have already been sold as the anticipation grows.

He won’t play down the importance of the game where a win could take his side to within only two points of leaders Macclesfield.

The manager told the club’s website that Tranmere won’t shy away from what’s ahead in north Wales.

Rovers’ 1,800 allocation has long been sold and the manager said: “We’re looking forward to it, everybody wants to be involved which is great, so we’ll get prepared properly and give a good account of ourselves.

“With the stage of the season that we’re it, it has to be up there as one of the most important local derbies in recent history for the club.

“It’s a massive game for both clubs and you’ll see that in the attendance for the game.

“It’s what you want to be involved in, these types of games, you have to be doing well if you’re attracting this kind of attention and long may that continue.

“You have to take the energy that will no doubt be around the place, work with it and take the positives out of it.”
