A Big Night Ahead In All Three National League Divisions

By Sam Elliott

It may not quite be a full programme tonight but there is certainly plenty to hold the attention.

Three games in the National League, one in the South with no fewer than four in the National League North means it’s a big night.

We have special coverage of a game in each division so here’s what’s in store this evening.

Our feature game in the National League comes from the headline makers of the weekend, AFC Fylde. If football was played on paper, there would be no contest with out-of-sorts Maidstone United visiting after the original game was abandoned.

The Stones haven’t won in the league since November and Jay Saunders could have done without a long trip to the league’s form side, that’s for sure.

Two teams who desperately needed a win meet at the Deva Stadium where Chester, in the bottom four, face a Hartlepool team who haven’t won a match since they thrashed Halifax on November 21.

In fact, a lot of teams that need to get their seasons back on track are in action.

Woking are on their worst run for 12 years and a long Tuesday night trip to Gateshead is not ideal for manager Anthony Limbrick. The Heed are back to winning ways after a solid victory at Chester on Saturday.

In the National League North, our feature game comes from Aggborough as Kidderminster Harriers face FC United of Manchester.

The Red Rebels, if they can get three points, may just fancy a shot at the play-offs - Harriers occupy the final slot and need the points themselves. We’ll be there to watch it unfold.

Blyth Spartans have had a great season to date and are in the top seven. But they won’t have it all their own way after Chris Moyses’ Alfreton take their 4-1 weekend win over Leamington to the North East.

Both Harrogate Town and Stockport County want to consign Saturday’s defeats to history when the two promotion contenders come together.

There’s a very big game at the bottom of the table too - Leamington and Gainsborough Trinity meet with the winner receiving a big boost in their battle to beat the drop.

There may only be one National League South game scheduled due to Poole Town v Chippenham falling foul of the weather but it's a big one.

We’ve got a reporter at Vauxhall Road as Hemel Hempstead welcome Chelmsford City.

Both are in the top seven and whichever team wins this one may just fancy looking towards an even greater prize.

Keep up to date with all tonight’s action across our social media channels from 6.30pm.
