Doswell Ends Five-Year Chase For Striker Harrison

Sutton United manager Paul Doswell has finally secured the services of a player he admits he has been trying to sign for five years after striker Byron Harrison joined the club from league rivals Barrow AFC on loan until the end of the season.

The 30-year-old, who came on as a second half substitute in last Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at the Furness Building Society Stadium and scored twice in the game at the Knights Community Stadium in September, joined the Cumbrians at the start of last season but is well known to local football followers having had a successful spell at Bostik League South outfit Carshalton Athletic, from where he earned a move in to the Football League with Stevenage in 2011 before joining AFC Wimbledon for a club record fee.

He has subsequently played for Cheltenham Town and Chesterfield, and earlier in his career included Havant & Waterlooville, Boreham Wood, Harrow Borough and Ashford Town (Middx) among his clubs.

Harrison goes in to the squad for tomorrow’s home game against Wrexham.

Doswell told his club`s official website: “Byron’s a player I’ve admired and known for a long time, and I’m delighted that I’ve finally managed to persuade him to join us”.
