'Deserving' Moors Finally Climb Out Of The Bottom Four

Mark Yates reckons his Solihull Moors side got what they deserved after they finally climbed out of the National League’s bottom four.

Moors won 1-0 at Hartlepool United thanks to Adi Yussuf’s 88th-minute goal - a result that saw them leapfrog Barrow into 20th place.

Solihull are now unbeaten in six and have kept four clean sheets in a row. They were made to wait for their winner at Victoria Park but Yates thought justice was done.

He told the club’s website: “My players were outstanding and we bossed the game from start to finish. How we’ve not scored seven, eight or nine I don’t know, but that’s what we are.

“That game could’ve been out of sight at half-time and we’ve allowed them to make it a game in the second-half, but we were really good today.

“We’re on a decent run of form. Although we’re frustrated that we’ve not won as many games because we’ve been drawing, our work rate, commitment and effort has been there for everyone to see.

“I just said to them, keep believing in yourselves and they’re doing that. We played some good stuff at times today and, as well as being a physical threat, we knocked the ball about and created lots of good chances.”

Solihull now face two big home games against Maidstone United on Tuesday and Guiseley next Saturday.

Moors will be full of confidence after their recent run of form and they haven’t lost on their own patch since November.

Yates added: “Our home form has been excellent. We’ve got to make sure that remains the same and we’ll just focus on Maidstone now.

“Our aim is to win on Tuesday. Our home record says we’ve got a chance at doing that and there’s belief within the group that it can happen.”
