Deeney Leaves Lambs For New Bucks Head

AFC Telford United have signed Ellis Deeney from league rivals Tamworth for an undisclosed fee.

The experienced 26-year-old joins the Bucks on an eighteen-month deal having played for the Lambs since January 2015 after four seasons with Worcester City where he was club captain.

Having joined City in January 2012 from Hinckley United the central midfielder, younger brother of Premiership star Troy Deeney, Ellis was previously with Kettering Town and the captain of Aston Villa's youth team that reached the FA Youth Cup Final in 2010.

Telford manager Rob Edwards was delighted to secure the signing of the former Worcester captain, telling his club`s official website: “When we were made aware of that Ellis was available, we were keen to get the deal done as he is a player I have been very impressed with at this level. Ellis will add further strength to our squad and I am delighted we have secured him into for this evening’s game.”

Deeney will be available for this evening’s clash against York City at the New Bucks Head.
