Davies Pays Undisclosed Fee To Bring In Defender From League Rivals

Southport have completed the transfer of 28-year-old defender Billy Priestley from league rivals Alfreton Town for an undisclosed fee.

Priestley joined Alfreton in the summer after time spent at Salford City, where he made forty-one appearances last term, and notably scored to equalise in their Evo-Stik League Premier play-off final against Workington AFC in 2016.

Starting his youth career at Accrington Stanley, Priestley has also gone on to play for Colne, Ramsbottom United and Bradford Park Avenue, where he made sixty-one appearances.

Manager Kevin Davies told his club`s official website: “Billy brings a wealth of experience into defence. He has all the attributes we’re looking for. He’s a very brave, athletic left-sided centre-half and we’re delighted to be able to bring him into the club”.
