Davies Optimistic For Future For Southport

Southport boss Kevin Davies says the work done by this side in the next week and bit will be key as they look ahead to next season.

The former England international in his first job in management, has seen his side win six in a row at home then lose five in a row recently.

With plans being made both on and off the pitch for next season, Davies is looking forward to his first full season in charge.

“This is a team in transition, to face a side going for promotion in recent weeks and keep putting in that kind of performance is encouraging," Davies said.

“I’m enjoying it all and we know the progress that has been made is clear and we can use that going forward."

"We brought in a lot of players since I came in, made the changes and hopefully that will come to fruition."

Davies believes that the recent performance against Harrogate Town was summed up by who the man of the match was.

“Their keeper won man of the match, we had chances got into the right areas and just couldn’t score.

"Again though I'm encouraged by what I saw, we got in the areas and we have the firepower, we just need to keep building.

“We face a lot of the sides trying to go up now again and that is going to be a test for the side, something we can use for the new season."
