Could Pools Be The Next Club To Hit The Sell-On Jackpot?

It appears Wrexham aren’t the only club keeping a close eye on others’ business in the transfer window.

Hartlepool United are taking a keen interest in talks between Shrewsbury Town and Ipswich.

Former Shrews manager Paul Hurst, an ex-National League boss with Grimsby of course, is hoping to sign Toto Nsiala for the Championship club.

With a ten per cent sell on agreement reportedly signed when the defender left Pools in January 2017, that means money may be coming their way should the deal go through.

It again demonstrates the value of selling clubs taking a cut of any possible future transfer fee.

Although exact figures and a timeframe aren’t known, Wrexham certainly cashed in last month.

The Red Dragons are still celebrating after Liverpool goalkeeper Danny Ward completed his move to Leicester City in July.

Wrexham sold the stopper to the Premier League giants nearly six years ago in a deal worth £100,000.

It is understood his Foxes fee was around £12m - and that means rather good news for the Welsh club!

New manager Sam Ricketts said the cash will be “a massive, massive boost” to them as the look to return to the EFL.
