Burnley Striker Loaned Back To Wrexham

By Steve Whitney

Wrexham have announced the initial six-month loan signing of striker Ntumba Massanka from Premier League side Burnley.

The 20-year-old forward joined Dean Keates' revival mission last season in January and competed well for his place, making eighteen appearances, scoring 4 times for the Dragons.

His incredible overhead kick during Wrexham's 3-1 victory over Guiseley AFC was his first senior career goal. That goal secured him the 2016/17 Steve Edwards goal of the season trophy at the end of season awards dinner.

The Manchester native was recommended to the club by former manager Brian Flynn and will be looking to continue his development during his second spell with us here in North Wales.

Massanka believed his loan spell with Wrexham last season improved his game saying; "As soon as I got in the side last season I just wanted to play as many games as possible.

"The manager helped me out so it was very helpful with my delevopment as a player."

Born in Tottenham his family re-located to Manchester with Massanka at a young age. He was soon spotted by Manchester United as a schoolboy where he spent six years before moving across 'town' to rivals Manchester City.

He joined Burnley in 2013 and signed professional terms with the club in 2015.

That season he made fourteen starts with the development squad, netting 16 times. During January 2016, he went on loan with then League Two York City and made three appearances.

On his return to Turf Moor in August 2016 he was sent out to League Two outfit Morecambe for six months where he made a further eleven appearances.

At Wrexham, he found his feet in a side that had struggled under former manager Gary Mills until his arrival.
