Buildbase FA Trophy First Round Draw

By Steve Whitney

Ties to be played on the weekend of Saturday, December 16th.

The first tie drawn out of the hat is one of the most interesting of the round as Vanarama National League rivals Solihull Moors and Tranmere Rovers do battle at the Automated Technology Group Stadium – both looking for some solace for disappointing league campaigns to date.

A really fascinating tie sends Leyton Orient the relatively short trip to Essex neighbours [b/Haringey Borough`s[/b] Coles Park for their first ever game in the competition.

The O`s should be wary of the hosts, however, as the Bostik League North outfit enjoyed a good run in the Emirates FA Cup and have only lost twice to date in the league.

There is sure to be a decent crowd at New Lodge where ambitious Billericay Town have been drawn at home against National League South promotion-chasers Havant & Waterlooville, while Wrexham face a tough test at the Racecourse Ground against National League North high-flyers Harrogate Town.

There are several all-National League ties, with a couple of the picks being Woking at home to Maidenhead United and Ebbsfleet United against Eastleigh at Stonebridge Road.

Aldershot Town`s good recent form will be severely tested by John Coventry`s East Thurrock United side at Rookery Hill, and Hartlepool United will have to wait to discover who their first Trophy opponents will be as they have been drawn away to the winners of the replay between Evo-Stik League North side Glossop North End and Evo-Stik Premier outfit Workington AFC.
