Bromley Wembley Bound As Dennis Goes 'Home'

By Sam Elliott

Louis Dennis was born minutes away from the home of football and still drives past Wembley Stadium all the time, yet hasn’t once stepped foot inside.

That is all about to change this weekend. The Bromley attacker is desperate to make his first visit the best he will ever have.

Dennis has always had ambitions to play under the Arch but hasn’t tormented himself by going in for a look.

The new ground has been up for 12 years now but this weekend’s FA Trophy final between the Ravens and Brackley Town will give him the chance to see it for himself.

Bromley will be powered by over 16,000 at the National Stadium and the 13-goal man wants it to be special.

“Every player wants to play at Wembley, and I live not far away but for whatever reason I just haven’t been yet,” he said.

“Maybe it’s because it would kill me not to be out there playing!

“I drive past it quite often and my family live really close in that part of North West London so I haven’t really got an excuse! I wasn't born far away, I'm from the area so this is going to be a day to remember.

“I like the fact that my first visit there will be with my club. Hopefully I’ll get to play and it will be a first visit to remember.

“The boys have worked so hard to get here and now it’s about finishing the job but Brackley are a good side and will want to rise to the occasion as well.”

Bromley of course only just missed out on the National League play-offs on the final day, coming undone at Maidenhead United.

But Dennis knows they overachieved - and next season could see them take the next step.

“If we could have a trophy to show for the year then it would be a fantastic season,” he told us.

“Nobody expected us to take it to the last day and although we just fell short the fact that we came on strongly in the final month should give us confidence.

“Now it’s about finishing on a high and doing something fantastic in front of our brilliant fans.

“To have so many of them inside Wembley is incredible. They have really bought into it and it’s sure to be an atmosphere to remember.”
