Bonne Gets Call Up - But It’s Not All Good News

The Leyton Orient top scorer Macauley Bonne has landed international recognition - but he will miss a big match for the Vanarama National League club because of it.

Zimbabwe have called up the O’s forward for the first time.

Coach Wilson Mutekede, in interim charge, wants to see the 22-year-old in action during friendly games with Namibia and Lesotho next weekend.

But because of his call up for the Warrors, Bonne won’t play for Orient against Ebbsfleet United - a match which will be broadcast live on BT Sport.

Leyton Orient Steve Davis is thrilled for Bonne - even though the forward will be a big miss at Stonebridge Road.

“Every player wants to play for his country and Macca is no different,” Davis told the club’s official website.

“It will be a great experience for him and help continue his development by playing at a level which is different to what he is used to.

“It is a blow that will be without him for the trip to Ebbsfleet, but we hope he enjoys the experience and comes back to us fit and ready for the home game against Dover.”
