Blues Shell-Shocked As Johnson Lets Rip After Collapse

Chester joint manager Anthony Johnson didn’t hold back as Blyth Spartans wiped the floor with his side.

An incredible 8-1 scoreline sent shockwaves through the National League North.

Spartans were without a point heading into the game but it was Chester who capitulated - and Johnson wants answers as to why his players waved the white flag.

“It wasn’t a difficult afternoon, it was embarrassing,” he said after the heavy defeat.

“I have never been involved in anything like that in all my life. I’m shaking I’m that mad, I’m shaking.

“I have never seen anything like it. It’s difficult to put it into words and not to take it too personally.

“We were a lot worse in the first half. There were a few mitigating circumstances in the second half but you expect a lot better.”

He added: “It was just too easy for Blyth and that’s just not right.

“I will be staggered when I see the match stats. To say I am embarrassed is putting it kindly.

“It’s important we don’t let heads drop after this but it is also important that the players understand what has just happened.”
