Blues' Hereford Game Off But There's Hope For Bradford

Chester’s Bank Holiday Monday fixture with Hereford has also been postponed but there is hope that their next home game will go ahead.

The National League North club have been left picking up the pieces ever since severe storm damage left the club in crisis.

Matches with Kidderminster Harriers and FC United also must be re-arranged following the issues.

But tonight the club say they hope to be in a position to host their September 8 fixture with Bradford (Park Avenue) AFC.

On August 12 torrential rain caused the collapse of a roof directly above the control room and that destroyed the club’s electrical system.

Without CCTV and a public address system, they do not hold a valid safety certificate.
By law they need to be in possession of one to host spectators.

A club today read: "At present the club remain hopeful for the next home game on Saturday 8th September to take place, as long as all work has been completed and tested, and as such the reintroduction of our safety certificate.

We will continue to update our members and supporters on the progress being made.

"Again, we thank you as a board for your patience and understanding in this situation, which is certainly one of the most challenging the club has ever faced.

"We are also conscious that September could potentially see a lot of home matches and are working with the Fan Engagement Working Group to look at initiatives for some of these games to help fans attend as many as possible, as we look to recover from lost revenue from the postponements suffered."
