Blues Closing In As Ashton Are Hit For Four

Chester joint manager Anthony Johnson feels his side are hitting form at just the right time.

Tuesday night’s 4-1 success over Ashton United made it six National League North wins from eight.

Having drawn the other two, they are timing a run well and now sit just five points away from leaders Chorley.

“It’s a great position we have got ourselves into now,” he said after the win.

“From Saturday to Tuesday it was two very contrasting performances but it’s two really important wins for us.

“We did let in a goal against Ashton but we’re not going to beat ourselves up about that. This was a different game.

“Ashton keep the ball very well but I think our extra bit of movement and some of our crisp passing maybe proved to be the difference.”

Next they face a big test of their promotion credentials - away to Brackley Town.

“Saturday will now be a yardstick for us to show what we’re all about,” he said.
