Big Night Ahead At The Bottom Of The National League

It’s on quiet nights when teams can sometimes make the loudest noise.

Relegation rivals Maidstone United and Maidenhead meet this evening - and it’s the only game in the National League.

That means, of course, that the end game is clear going into such an important match.

The Stones will climb out of the bottom four with three points - and dump the Magpies back in it.

But victory for Alan Devonshire’s team will lift them on to 31 points, and create a bit of a gap between themselves and that the dreaded dotted line.

Maidstone United’s joint caretaker manager Simon Walton will continue alongside Tristan Lewis until the end of January.

They can do their chances of landing the job until the summer the power of good with victory this evening.

Walton said: “It’s a very big game for us, there’s no disguising that.

“We know if we can win then we not only go above Maidenhead in the table, but it also means we get out of the bottom four. That would be huge for our belief.

“Nobody here is going to try and play down the importance of the game but whatever happens nothing is settled in January.”
