Barrow Could Have Their New Manager Before Thursday

By Sam Elliott

Barrow's managing director Andrew Casson expects a decision on their new manager within the next 72 hours.

Casson provided fans with an update on the club’s search for Paul Cox's replacement this afternoon

Micky Moore has been in temporary charge since Cox left in mid-August and a meeting is planned with the board tomorrow.

The Bluebirds needed a late Byron Harrison goal to secure Saturday's 1-1 draw with Torquay United. Watch Match Highlights Here.

Casson took to the club's website today to address a number of issues and it seems fans can expect movement very soon.

“We expect to make a decision on the manager in the next 72 hours,” he said.

“Paul Ogden has not left the club. That was a gross exaggeration by someone not within the football club. I spoke with Paul last week on two occasions about his plans for developing the squad and who he will be watching the next couple of weeks.

“Adi Yussuf did not quit on the team on Saturday. He has been playing through quite a bit of hamstring tightness which was a result of a limited pre-season. He was putting it all on the line to put on the shirt but unfortunately he has reached the limit of that exertion. He probably needs a couple weeks of rehab to get himself 100% fit and raring to go again.

“We expect to have several new faces come through the door over the next two weeks, as we look to bolster an injury decimated squad. The additions will likely be a front line striker, a physical midfielder and a versatile defender, depending on the status of Moussa and Jack who both picked up injuries on Saturday.

“We are also looking to add a seasoned Strength and Conditioning coach, something we have lacked since taking over the club. This is a critical role in football today and one that should produce immediate results in tracking player fitness and improving it throughout the season.”
