Askey: Those Are The Games That Can Win You The League

Macclesfield Town boss John Askey says his Silkmen side showed all that was needed as they left it late to beat Maidenhead United.

Scott Wilson popped up in the 90th minute to head the side to victory and keep them five points clear at the top of the table, writes Tom Feaheny.

"When you are in a match like that, those are the games that can win you the league, "Askey told MID Communications

"In previous games you can see the fitness levels of this side, in the last ten minutes we have kept on going, it is fantastic.

"Scott's got his goal and I'm delighted for him, you could see what it means to everything associated with this club."

The Silkmen are back on TV next weekend as they face Boreham Wood in a match that will be live on BT Sport, Askey says while he is looking forward to it, he wants the side to be at 100%.

"It is important that we rest and move onto a tough game on Saturday, they can enjoy that last win and then we move on, facing another side aiming to go up, who will push us all the way."
