"Am I Worried? Not At All". Salford's Darlo Defeat Just A Setback

Salford City rued opening day jitters when they went down at home to Darlington on Saturday.

The Ammies are amongst the Vanarama National League North promotion favourites.

Darlington didn't read the script. Actually, they tore it up. David Ferguson's two goals meant it was a dream start for the Quakers.

But it was a nightmare one for Salford City who didn't work hard enough, they were told following the 2-0 home defeat.

Their joint manager Bernard Morley knows they will have to learn quickly.

He said: "We're not only unhappy that we lost the first game to a promotion rival, but we are unhappy with the way we lost the game.

"We were shell-shocked at time, the players were caught in the headlights it seemed.

"We have to accept it. The first half wasn't good enough, it wasn't acceptable.

"What we can never accept is a team working hard that us, and they did that today.

"Am I worried? Not at all. It's the first game of the season. There are people out there who want us to fail but we have got to get back on the training ground and focus on Tuesday night."

On that midweek game with, Morley knows the importance of bouncing back quickly.

"They need to respond, they don't need us to go in to the changing room to shout at them," he explained after the loss to Darlington which was watched by over 1,700 supporters at Moor Lane.

"You would expect them to put it right and hopefully they will."
