Ainsley Reveals All As Moors Confirm Five New Additions

Spennymoor have started their recruitment ahead of the new campaign with five new signings and a new coach as Paul Midgley who has joined the management team, writes Aidan Jones.

Manager Jason Ainsley has welcomed goalkeeper Matt Gould, defenders Stephen Brogan, Kris Tackray and Rob Atkinson, along with midfielder Jake Hibbs who has also joined the quest for promotion.

Gould, who is the grandson of FA Cup winning manager Bobby Gould, has joined the club following a spell at Stourbridge, and has signed a deal ahead of the new season.

The shot-stopper has previously played for Cheltenham Town in 2015 and has also played his football across the border with Livingston and Stenhousemuir.

The club have also brought in Europa League experienced defender Kris Thackray who joins after playing for Maltese side Gżira United earlier this year.

The 30-year old started off at Newcastle United and went onto play abroad for his career of football.

Joining them is midfielder Jake Hibbs who joins from FC Halifax Town fresh from surviving a relegation challenge after winning promotion in the season before.

Hibbs joins with a wealth of National League experience andwon the National League North Play-offs as well as the FA Trophy with the Shaymen.

Also joining the National League North side is defender Rob Atkinson who has joined the club from relegated side Guiseley.

He joined Grimsby Town in 2009 making 117 appearances for the Mariners.

The 31-year old also played a part in the promotion to the Football League with Fleetwood Town.

The last player to sign for the Moors today is Stephen Brogan who has joined from Boston United.

The 20-year old spent time at Rotherham United during the early stages of his career and was once on the radar of Tottenham Hotspur.

Joining the five new signings, is coach Paul Midgley.

The former York City coach has taken up a place, joining Jason Ainsley and Tommy Miller ahead of the new campaign.

The 31-year old is currently a UEFA qualified coach after playing for 13 years.
