A Big Night Of Action Ahead In The National League South

By Sam Elliott

There’s six matches in the National League South this evening - and the league’s two top scorers get ready to for their own personal shoot-out.

East Thurrock’s leading marksmen and the division’s top scorer Sam Higgins has 26 while second place Alfie Pavey needs a good night in front of goal for Dartford - he has 21 to his name so far.

But tonight for the leaders is more than just who wins the Golden Boot.

The Darts are joint top and with Havant breathing down their neck the need three points at Rookery Hill, especially after the Rocks crumbled at home to Chelmsford City on Saturday on their own patch.

Battling Whitehawk will be relegated if they don’t come away from Braintree Town with anything to show for their evening.

But even a victory for Steve King’s side may not be enough for the much-improved Hawks.

They will go down regardless if Concord Rangers beat Bognor Regis, who were relegated on Saturday - and if Hungerford Town win at Truro City.

There’s no dead rubber fixtures at all this evening with every game having something riding on it.

Poole Town can’t go down tonight but they surely must beat Hampton & Richmond Borough at home to have any chance of staving off relegation.

The Beavers have lost third place and manager Alan Dowson isn’t a happy man. He knows if they are to secure some home play-off advantage they need to get back on track in Dorset later on.

St Albans’ three straight defeats has rocked them at the worst time. Third spot looked their for the taking not so long ago but in the last few games Ian Allinson’s side have lost their way.

They could do without a demanding trip to Gloucester City, whose striker Joe Parker just can’t stop scoring at the moment.

Tonight’s National League South fixtures:
Braintree v Whitehawk
Concord Rangers v Bognor Regis
East Thurrock v Dartford
Gloucester City v St Albans
Poole Town v Hampton & RB
Truro City v Hungerford
